Adrian is an architectural designer with 12 years of experience in the industry. He now runs his own design studio (Collet Design Studio) and the Bay Island Network (BIBN). He has built his own home, and has first hand experience in building homes on the Moreton Bay Islands. In 2020, he went through the journey of building his first home. At that time, he was also working full-time as an architectural designer for a construction company, which meant he could only use his spare time to complete the project. Considering the limited time that he had and that he had to juggle the whole process with a full-time job, it was a stressful period for him. This led him to eventually leave his full-time job to finish his family home and then he began building on the islands and helping other's do the same.

 

He faced some challenges on his journey. He needed help with various tasks, such as finding suppliers, finding trustworthy trades, and seeking a community with local expertise. Whilst building on the islands he quickly recognized that he wasn’t the only one facing these challenges; other owner-builders and new island residents go through it too. As someone who is passionate about helping others, this realization inspired him to create something that could help out his fellow community to experience a smoother and less stressful building experience.

 

Thus, the Bay Island Network was established to connect customers like you with verified trades on the islands. It’s a common mistake to work with unverified and untrustworthy trades, so he has taken on the tedious task of finding the truly reliable ones so that you don’t have to. He did this to make your home-building journey on the islands as smooth as possible, and to support and strengthen the local community.
